Comparison of the fire resistance behaviour of structural insulated panels with expanded polystyrene core treated with intumescent coating

It is necessary to study fire safety in buildings because the lack of knowledge behavior materials has taken too many lives. However, this field designed innovating construction systems and such as structural insulated panels (SIP), a much more practical alternative for fastest constructions, reducing amount material waste, offering cleaner lighter works, its thermal insulation properties possible fires better durability account various internal compositions. The objective article evaluate analyze resistance two SIP dividing walls, made up core expanded polystyrene (EPS) with dimensions 3150 × 3000 mm, one covered cement board other gypsum plasterboard, both are treated intumescent paint. samples were exposed curve based on ISO 834: 2014 standard then analyzed compared each other. obtained results indicate incorporation plasterboards provides gain 45 min fire, system it only contains board, positively influencing stability property panels. Likewise, was found that coatings application effectively helps give greater protection against fire.
